Device Inventory

The Manager View | Home > Firewalls > Inventory page provides the inventory and activity status of all the firewalls and appliances managed by the Network Security Manager. Multi-tenant administrators can click on the tenant name and select any other tenant to see the devices associated with the selected tenancy.

A successfully-acquired firewall's management status changes to OUT OF SYNC state when the firewall is locally modified. Click Synchronize Firewall to synchronize firewall configuration with NSM so that the management status is set to In Sync. For more information, refer to Synchronizing Firewall Configuration with NSM.

There will be a delay while updating the device status if you have not migrated your firewall to Zero Touch. For more information, refer to Zero Touch Status.

When a firewall is not connected to the NSM, its status will be shown as Offline and Out of Sync in the Manager View | Home > Firewalls > Inventory page. However, the firewall's static data will be displayed in the Firewall View, and the dynamic pages will be notified as NSM can’t load this page as the firewall is offline.

You can click the icons on the Inventory dashboard to list the devices, one category at a time:

  • All the devices
  • Online and In Sync with NSM
  • Offline
  • Online and Out of Sync with NSM
  • Devices that are not assigned to any group
  • Expired devices

From the Inventory table, you can filter the devices in the following ways:

  • Search: Enter a Keyword and the list brings up the desired search results
  • Group By: From the drop-down menu, choose the options to No Grouping, Model, Connectivity, Managed StatusGroup Name, Reporting Agent, Auto Sync, Capacity, Firmware Version.

The Inventory dashboard above the table shows: ALL DEVICES— total number of devices; number of devices that are ONLINE & IN SYNC, OFFLINE, ONLINE & OUT OF SYNC, DEVICE GROUP UNASSIGNED, and EXPIRED.

The following information is displayed in the firewall table:

TERM DEFINITION
NAME Displays the IP address of firewall.
SERIAL NUMBER Displays the serial number of the firewall.
TENANT Displays the tenant which the firewall is created.
GROUP Displays the group name to which the firewall belongs.
REPORT DATA RETENTION Displays the number days NSM will store the report data.

MODEL

Displays the firewall model.
VERSION Displays the SonicOS version.
TEMPLATES APPLIED Displays if any templates are applied to the firewall.
ZERO TOUCH Displays if zero touch is connected or not.
CONNECTIVITY Displays the connectivity status of the firewall with NSM.
CONFIGURATION Displays if the firewall is synchronized with NSM or not.
IN SYNC It displays the status of synchronization.
AUTO SYNC It displays the auto-sync is enabled or disabled.
ACTION

It displays the actions that can be performed on the firewall. For any firewall, click Ellipses icon in the ACTION column and select appropriate option to perform actions on the firewall.

NSM will not automatically reboot the firewall when NSM Advanced License is applied to the firewall. A warning message will be displayed along with the firewall name, indicating the firewall needs to be rebooted.
