Sami Feature Guide

Setting Up a Site-to-Site VPN

Sami can help administrators configure a site-to-site VPN between two SonicWall firewalls, enabling secure connectivity between two networks. You can ask Sami for step-by-step guidance on creating an IPsec VPN policy, including authentication settings, network configuration, and encryption proposals. Sami retrieves relevant best practice guidance from SonicWall technical documentation and Knowledge Base articles, providing step-by-step instructions tailored to your firewall model and firmware version.

Configuration changes, such as creating or modifying a VPN policy, cannot be performed directly by Sami. Sami provides guidance and instructions; the administrator must apply changes through the firewall management interface.

  1. Log in to SonicWall Unified Management.

The Sami icon appears in the bottom-right corner of every UM page, including sub-applications.

  2. Click the Sami icon.

  3. In the text box, type How do I set up a site-to-site VPN?

Sami guides you through creating an IPsec VPN policy under Network | IPsec VPN | Rules and Settings — including the authentication method, policy name, remote gateway address, shared secret, local and remote networks, and encryption proposals. Sami also notes that the VPN Wizard/Quick Configuration feature can be used for a guided setup.

If the guidance provided by Sami does not resolve the issue or additional assistance is required, Sami can help connect you with a SonicWall live support agent for further troubleshooting.
