SAMI Feature Guide

Interacting with SAMI: A Conversational Approach to Information Retrieval and Actions

SonicWall AI for Monitoring & Insight (SAMI) serves as a prime example of a smart, adaptable system that helps in managing complex tasks, such as scheduling and data analysis, via a straightforward, conversational interface.

Prerequisite

Ensure your selected tenant scope is licensed for NSM to run a firewall specific query under that tenant.

  1. In the text box, type your query. For example, show me the firewall traffic logs for the last 24 hours.

SAMI interprets the request as it is a follow-up to previous conversations about network security monitoring. It immediately starts fetching the data from the Network Security Manager (NSM) SaaS platform, which manages the firewall settings and logs.

As it retrieves the information, an in-progress message appears in the chat window to inform you that it is working on the request. This ensures that the request is being processed and not missed.

A summary of the firewall logs, highlighting any unusual activity or potential threats is displayed.

  2. If you need more details about a specific log entry, enter for example, request more details about entry number xxx in the chat text box.

SAMI interprets the request that entry number xxx refers to the presented data and provides detailed information about that specific entry without further specification.

  3. Based on the detailed information, you can ask the SAMI for more information regarding how to update the firewall settings, create a rule, or block an IP address.

SAMI interprets this command, accesses the NSM SaaS API and provides relevant information.

During the conversation with SAMI, it maintains context, remembers and focused on firewall logs and specific entries. It also accessed multiple data sources, such as the NSM SaaS for firewall management, and MySonicWall (MSW) for queries related to tenants and user accounts.
