Secure Mobile Access 100 10.2 Administration Guide

Blocking Source IP Address for Continuous Login Failures

Block Source IP Address for Continuous Login Failures is a default-enabled feature that blocks IP addresses and will not be allowed to access the appliance.

Configure the following steps to change the maximum number of continuous login failure counts and the block time

  1. Navigate to System > Administration.
  2. Block Source IP for Continuous Login Failures is a default enabled option under the HTTP DOS Settings section. If this option is disabled, all the blocked IP addresses will be unblocked and allowed to access the appliance.
  3. To configure the limitation of the continuous login failures, type the maximum number of constant failures in the Max Continuous Login Failure Count field. The default value is 30, with a valid range of 5 to 300. If the number of continuous login failures reaches the limitation, the policy will be enforced to block access from the source IP address.
  4. Configure to set the lock period while the source IP address is blocked. Type the maximum time in the Block Time Period (minutes) field. The default value is 10 minutes, with a valid range of 1 to 300 minutes. After the time goes out, the source IP address will be unblocked, and access to the appliance will be allowed.

  5. If some IP addresses are blocked, the administrator can find the information on the System > Administration page beside the Block Source IP for Continuous Login Failures field.

  6. Click the “x IP blocked,” and the table will show up to view all the blocked IP addresses. An administrator can unblock the specific IP address using the float action.

  7. A log entry for blocked and unblocked IP addresses will be generated. Navigate to Log > View, to view the generated logs.
