The following steps outline the recommended process for migrating to a Gen8 firewall.
Confirm Compatibility – Verify that the source device and firmware are supported for migration.
Remove Unsupported Interfaces – Delete any VLAN, tunnel, or WLAN configurations prior to export.
Export Configuration File – Generate an .EXP file from the source device.
Use the Migration Tool (if needed) – Convert the settings for intermediate compatibility where required.
Import to Gen8 Device – Upload the settings file to your new TZ or NSa Series firewall.
Validate the Configuration – Review key policies, address objects, and settings to ensure they transferred correctly.
