Supported Models and Firmware
The Gen8 TZ Series and NSa Series firewalls support in-product or SonciWall to SonicWall migration. This allows you to import the settings from certain legacy firewalls running specific firmware versions. If the firewall is running an older, or unauthorized version, the setting file cannot be migrated.
Common Migration Paths
The migration paths listed below are the most common ones, but all available options are described in Understanding Your Migration Options. The settings import process also includes certain caveats, which are addressed in the sections that follow.

Supported Firmware
Only certain releases are supported for migration to the latest Gen 8 firewalls, so refer to the following tables to see which models are compatible:

- Gen 7 with firmware 7.3.x can only migrate to Gen 8 firewalls running SonicOS 8.2.0 or later.
- Gen 7 with firmware 7.2.x requires Gen 8 firewalls running SonicOS 8.1.0 or later.

All other supported versions can migrate to Gen 8 running SonicOS 8.0.0 or later.
