What is macOS Ventura?
- macOS 13 Ventura is the new release of macOS, Apple Inc.'s operating system for Macintosh computers, and the successor to macOS Monterey (12.x). macOS Ventura was officially released on 24 October, 2022. For more details see macOS Ventura Preview.
What is the version number of the Capture client and SentinelOne Agent that will support Ventura?
- You can install Capture client macOS Agent version 3.7.5 and SentinelOne Agent version 22.2 from the Capture client management console. Note – Both Client version are promoted as “Self-Managed release” for now.
What is the recommended process to upgrade to Ventura?
- Upgrade your Capture client macOS Agent to 3.7.5 and SentinelOne macOS Agent version to 22.2 or higher.
- Upgrade your macOS endpoint to Ventura.
What happens if I upgrade my endpoint operating system to Ventura while still using an unsupported CC/S1 Agent?
- If a macOS endpoint is upgraded to macOS Ventura without supported Capture client and SentinelOne Agent, and the Capture client Agent version is 3.6 and higher and SentinelOne Agent version is 21.7 SP1 and higher, the Agent is expected to communicate with the Management Console and protect your endpoint.
This state is not recommended and requires an immediate Agent upgrade to a supported version.
- If a macOS endpoint is upgraded to macOS Ventura without supported Capture client and SentinelOne Agent, and the Capture client Agent version is 3.6 and lower and SentinelOne Agent version is 21.7 GA and lower, the Agent can become unresponsive and will not communicate with the Management Console and your endpoint will not be protected.
To protect the endpoint :
- Install a supported Capture client and SentinelOnemacOS Agent
- For assistance, please contact Support.
Will all of the existing Agent features be supported on macOS Ventura?
- Most features supported on macOS Big Sur (11.0) and macOS Monterey are supported on macOS Ventura (13.0). Device Control BLE rules are not supported on macOS Ventura.
Are there known limitations with macOS Ventura?
- If an Agent was installed manually or the macOS is upgraded with a manually installed Agent without an MDM tool, the Agent shows missing permissions when the permissions are authorized in the system settings.
- Device Control BLE rules are not supported on macOS Ventura.
