Resolution
Resolution for SonicOS 7.X
This release includes significant user interface changes and many new features that are different from the SonicOS 6.5 and earlier firmware. The below resolution is for customers using SonicOS 7.X firmware.
Local domains DNS server should be configured in the DHCP scope being used for GVC clients. This will allow the client to use a local DNS server to resolve local domain devices. There can be a second DNS server that is public added to the scope as well if desired.
If using the SonicWall's DHCP option the scope should have a suffix added for the local domain, to allow for hostname without having to use the FQDN. To confirm if there is a DNS suffix navigate to Network |System | DHCP Server|DHCP server Lease scopes and click Edit () next to the dynamic scope. Select the tab DNS/WINS.
