Use the station settings to configure how the device connects to an external access point when the radio role is set to Access Point & Station. These settings determine the SSID, security method, and connection parameters the device uses while simultaneously operating as both an access point and a wireless station.
To configure the station settings
In the AP SSID field, enter the name of the access point.
From the AP Authentication Type drop-down menu, select the security method the access point uses to verify and authenticate wireless clients.
Open: Allows clients to connect without a password; provides no encryption or security.
WPA2 – AUTO – PSK: Uses WPA2‑PSK with automatic mode selection to support compatible clients; provides strong, widely supported security.
WPA3 – PSK: Uses WPA3‑PSK for improved protection and stronger encryption; requires modern client devices.
WPA3/WPA2 – EAP: Supports WPA2‑Enterprise and WPA3‑Enterprise authentication using 802.1X; typically used in managed or corporate networks.
From the VLAN ID drop-down menu, select VLAN ID. Only VLANs that have already been created appear in the menu. The VLAN assigns the wireless radio to the correct subnet. To create a VLAN, go to NETWORK > System > Interfaces and select Add Interface on the Interface Settings page.
Turn on the Use Wireless Interface as WAN button to allow the wireless interface to provide access outside your local network. When enabled, the wireless interface is reassigned to the WAN zone and functions as a WAN uplink.
Turn on the Enable WDS Station button to allow the device to operate as a WDS station, enabling wireless distribution and bridging with a compatible access point.
