    Description

With SonicOS 5.9 and above each Virtual Access Point can support individual ACL (Access Control List) to provide more effective authentication control. Each VAP will have its own ACL setting and will prevent wireless clients from authenticating and associating with the wireless security appliance.

Please Note: If you enforce MAC filtering on the VAP, wireless clients must provide you with the MAC address of their wireless networking card.

    Resolution

    Resolution for SonicOS 7.X

This release includes significant user interface changes and many new features that are different from the SonicOS 6.5 and earlier firmware. The below resolution is for customers using SonicOS 7.X firmware.

To set up your ACL/MAC Filter List for Virtual Access Point, follow these steps:

    • Login to the SonicWall Management Interface.
    • Click Device in the top navigation menu.
    • Navigate to External Controllers|Access Points | Virtual Access Point page. Add or Edit a Virtual Access Point through Virtual Access point objects tab.
    • Add or Edit a Virtual Access Point, click on the Advanced tab.
    • Check/Enable the "Enable MAC Filtering List" option.  Image

NOTE:  If Use Global ACL Settings is checked, this VAP will inherit the global ACL settings.

    • The Allow List and Deny List are located in the address object groups. To view them, navigate to Objects | Match Objects | Addresses| Address Groups.             Image

    • The MAC Allow List contains groups of address objects for network resources that the security appliance allows to connect via the WLAN, regardless of the selections in the deny list.
    • The MAC Deny List contains groups of address objects for network resources that the security appliance denies to connect via the WLAN, regardless of the selections in the allow list.
    • To add an Address Object to the Allow or Deny List (Address Groups), navigate to Objects |Match Objects| Addresses page.
    • Click on Add an Address Object with MAC Address (Zone WLAN) and assign to the Default ACL Allow or Deny Group or to a custom Group Object.
