How to find UUID of an access rule

Description

The following article will guide you on how to find the UUID of an access rule.

Resolution

The first step in this process would be inspecting the TSR of the respective firewall to find the UUID of the required access rule.

How can I download required tech support files (TSR, settings, GUI logs, trace logs)? - here you can find out how to get the TSR.

After getting the TSR, next step is to inspect it. I recommend using a tool like Notepad++ to inspect it.

Open the TSR (the .wri file) with Notepad++, press ctrl+F and in the field type "access rules". Click "find next" button.

The access rules will be starting below the highlighted line.

The next would be finding the rule you are looking for. There are two options.

1. You log-in into the firewall and modify the name of the rule, which will then be reflected in the TSR also. If you will take this option, you have to download the TSR again.

2. Identify your rule based on the settings, source and destination zones for example, service, etc.
