SonicOS 8 NSv Getting Started Guide for ESXi

Uploading a New Image in SafeMode

Image files are used to upgrade SonicOS. You can download the latest image file from MySonicWall.

In SafeMode, you can upload a new SonicOS image and apply it to the NSv virtual machine. The SafeMode web management interface is used to perform an upgrade, rather than SafeMode in the NSv CLI console.

In SafeMode, the web management interface is only available by way of http (not https).

To upload a new image in SafeMode

  1. Access the SafeMode Web Interface. For more information, refer to Accessing the SafeMode Web Interface
  2. In the SafeMode web interface, select the Firmware.

  3. On the Firmware page, click Upload Firmware.

After the upload completes, the image file lists under the Configuration Version.

  1. In the row with the uploaded image file, click Boot and select one of the following:

    • Boot Uploaded Image with Current Configuration

    • Boot Uploaded Image with Factory Default Configuration

The NSv virtual machine reboots with the new image. For more information, refer to the SonicOS 8 NSv Series Upgrade Guide.
