MSS: Firewall As-A-Service (FWaaS) Getting Started Guide

Description

Description

Welcome to SonicWall’s Firewall-as-a-Service (FWaaS) program. This guide walks you through the steps to register, transfer, and license your firewall so it is ready for configuration and deployment under the MSS program.

Prerequisites

You must have a valid Org-Based MySonicWall account.

  1. If you do not already have an active MySonicWall (MSW) account, visit MySonicWall.com and click Sign Up to create it.
    1. An ORG-Based MSW account will be created for you.
  2. If you currently have an existing MSW account, confirm it is an Org-Based account by navigating to Settings > My Account and ensuring you see an Organization ID.
    1. If no Organization ID is listed, complete the steps in our MySonicWall Organization Account and Migration Steps to convert your MSW account.

Step 1. Register Your Firewall

  1. Register your firewall in MySonicWall using the official SonicWall guide: 🔗 How to register SonicWall firewall
  2. Once registration is complete, your device will appear in your MSW account under My Products.

Step 2. Transfer the Firewall to MSS

Due to current MSW platform limitations, all FWaaS units must reside temporarily within MSS’s MySonicWall Organization for monthly licensing to be applied correctly.

  1. After transfer, MSS will affiliate the unit back to your account so you retain full visibility in MSW.
  2. After registering the firewall(s) in your MSW account, select the registered FWaaS firewall(s).
  3. Click Transfer Products.
  4. ScreenShot_2025-10-10_11.34.34-20251010-153500.png
  5. Select Another Organization
  6. Enter the MSS Organization ID: 1-681DE086.
  7. Click Transfer

Step 3. FWaaS Firewall Licensing

Once the transfer is complete, notify our accounting team so licensing can be verified and activated.

Email: MSSAccounting@SonicWall.com

Subject: New FWaaS Activation – [Serial Number]

Body: Include the following details:

  • Your MySonicWall Organization ID (from Step 1)
  • Confirmation that the unit has been registered and transferred to MSS

Next Steps

Once MSS Accounting verifies and activates the unit’s licensing:

  • You will have full visibility and management access.
  • The device will be ready for configuration and installation.
