How To Disable Auto-added NAT Policies/Access Rules

Description

This article explains how to disable auto-added NAT policies and Access Rules 


By default users cannot delete/edit auto added NAT policies or Access rules in the UI of the firewall. 

Resolution for SonicOS 7.X

This release includes significant user interface changes and many new features that are different from the SonicOS 6.5 and earlier firmware. The below resolution is for customers using SonicOS 7.X firmware.

  1. Log into the SonicWall and navigate to the Diag page by changing the address in the browser sonicui/7/m/dashboard/overview/status/device to /sonicui/7/m/mgmt/settings/diagImage
  1. Click on Internal Settings Image
  1. Scroll down to Firewall Settings

  1. Click Enable the ability to disable auto-added NAT policyImage
  1. Scroll up and click Accept Image 
  2. Click on Policy ,Navigate to Rules and Policies | NAT policies to check the disable option available on default Nat Policy.Image

This release includes significant user interface changes and many new features that are different from the SonicOS 6.2 and earlier firmware. The below resolution is for customers using SonicOS 6.5 firmware.

  1. Log into the SonicWall and navigate to the Diag page by changing the address in the browser from x.x.x.x/main.html to x.x.x.x/diag.html

  1. Click on "Internal Settings" and scroll down to Firewall Settings.

  1. Click Enable the ability to disable auto-added NAT policy, click on Accept at the bottom.

  1. Click on MANAGE ,Navigate to Rules | NAT policies to check the disable option available on default Nat Policy.

Resolution for SonicOS 6.2 and Below

The below resolution is for customers using SonicOS 6.2 and earlier firmware. For firewalls that are generation 6 and newer we suggest to upgrade to the latest general release of SonicOS 6.5 firmware.

  1. Log into the SonicWall and navigate to the Diag page by changing the address in the browser from x.x.x.x/main.html to x.x.x.x/diag.html

  1. Click on "Internal Settings" and scroll down to Firewall Settings.

  2. Navigate to Network | NAT policies to check the disable option available on default Nat Policy.
