Uploading Configuration

The following are the steps to identify and upload your current Firewall configuration.

1. Select the product as SonicWall or any of your source product based on your firewall to migrate from the Select Product drop-down menu.
2. On Select Configuration, click Browse and select the settings file from your local machine. For instructions on exporting a copy of your current configuration settings, refer to Exporting a Copy of your Current Configuration Settings.

3. On Select Configuration, click Upload to start upload your settings file and ensure the tool finds the file.

4. Click Next.

   

The following are the steps to use Demo Mode.

The Demo Mode checkbox on the Upload Configuration page allows you to explore the Migration Tool using a pre-loaded sample configuration - without uploading your own settings file.

To use Demo Mode, check the Demo Mode checkbox on the Upload Configuration page before clicking Upload. The Select Configuration Browse and Upload controls are disabled when Demo Mode is active.

Uncheck Demo Mode before performing a real migration. Leaving Demo Mode enabled will prevent your actual configuration file from being processed.

When Demo Mode is enabled:

• A sample SonicWall configuration is automatically loaded into the tool.

• You can walk through all five steps of the migration wizard (START > UPLOAD > TARGET > INTERFACES > EXPORT) without connecting to a real device.

• The exported settings file produced in Demo Mode is based on the sample data and should not be imported into a production firewall.

• Demo Mode is recommended for evaluating the tool's capabilities, training, or testing interface mappings before performing a live migration.
