Before You Begin

Before starting a firewall migration, confirm the following prerequisites are in place:

• Access the Migration Tool

  The SonicWall Migration Tool is a web-based application. Open a supported browser and navigate to: https://migratetool.global.sonicwall.com/.

• Supported Browsers

  Use the latest stable release of Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, or Microsoft Edge. Internet Explorer is not supported.

• Required Permissions

  You must have Administrator access on the source firewall to export its configuration settings, and Administrator access on the target firewall to import the converted settings file.

• Recommended: Back Up Your Current Configuration

  Before beginning, export a backup of your existing firewall configuration. See Exporting a Copy of your Current Configuration Settings for instructions. Keep this file in a secure location so you can restore your settings if needed.

• Firmware Compatibility

  Ensure your target firewall is running the firmware version you plan to target during migration. Refer to Supported Platforms and the Export/Import Support Matrix for version compatibility details.

Certificates and Licenses are not migrated by the migration tool and must be re-applied manually on the target device after importing the configuration.
