Unit Status of the firewall acquired on NSM remains Online/Managed after locally modified

Description

Unit Status remain Online/Managed after locally modified.

Cause

When making any changes locally on the firewall, no alerts are triggered for "Unit Locally Modified" and device status in NSM remains online/managed.


For the firewalls which are acquired via Zero Touch on NSM, local device changes are detected only when password is set for the firewall through NSM.

This is required to decrypt the syslog heartbeats from the firewall.

Resolution

Steps to change the firewall Super admin password from NSM:

1) Login to NSM->Firewall->Inventory->Click on Firewall name to get into the Firewall View.

2) Under Firewall View, choose Device->Settings->Administration-> Look for Administrator name and password option. Click on the button to change the password as shown below:
