GMS 9.5 Migration Guide

Licensing

GMS and NSM On-Premises are licensed differently so be sure you understand the difference so you can select the right NSM licenses before the transition.

  • GMS is a perpetual license and requires you to purchase a subscription for support. The GMS license is based on the number of firewalls to be managed.
  • NSM has subscription licenses that include support. These subscriptions provide the flexibility to license:
    • NSM only for firewall configuration management: for configuration management functionality, licenses are based on the number of managed firewalls.
    • NSM for firewall configuration management with reporting and analytics: for reporting and analytics functionality with management, licenses have to be provisioned on each managed firewall.
  • A valid firewall support contract or license bundle for Gen 7 and Gen 8 entitle users to manage firewall in NSM On-Premises.

NSM licensing details are provided in the Network Security Manager Getting Started Guide for On-Premises.

Refer to the datasheet for licensing details.
