SonicWall Last Day Order Announcement for SonicWall Universal Management Appliance UMA EM5000
Last Day Order Announcement

SonicWall is initiating the Last Day Order (LDO) notification for the SonicWall Universal Management Appliance UMA EM5000.  Last Day Order is the first phase of the SonicWall End of Life process outlined at the end of this document.  During this phase, authorized SonicWall partners and distributors may purchase UMA EM5000 hardware SKUs from SonicWall.  After the LDO phase has ended, SonicWall will no longer accept orders for the SKUs listed below and the UMA EM5000 will transition to Active Retirement Mode (ARM).  Active Retirement Mode is the second phase of the SonicWall End of Life process outlined at the end of this document.

Note that the UMA E5000 is a 32-bit hardware platform, so it is compatible with GMS 7.2 SPx and earlier software, but it will not run 64-bit GMS 8.0 and later software. Existing UMA users may retain the full value of their GMS functionality by migrating their GMS software licenses and system settings to a 64-bit Windows Server or Virtual Appliance.  64-bit hardware will immediately heighten the performance of the GMS software and establish a platform for upgrades to GMS 8.0 and later.

All official End of Life notifications and phase information is posted on the Product Lifecycle page of our Support web site.

Last Day Order

Last Day Order (LDO) is advanced notification to SonicWall distributors that SonicWall intends to start the end of life process.  The duration of this phase is variable and depends on numerous factors including material availability, SonicWall and channel inventory and end user demand.  Last Day Order is informational only.  Products in this phase are active.

Active Retirement Mode

Active Retirement Mode (ARM) is a statement by the company that it is no longer actively manufacturing or selling the product.  Products in ARM are removed from all price lists and marketing collateral. The duration of this phase is typically two years.

Limited Retirement Mode

Limited Retirement Mode (LRM) is a statement by the company that it will no longer develop or release driver updates or bug fixes for these products.  Depending on inventory, technical capability, customer demand and gross margin, SonicWall will continue to offer support agreements on products in LRM.  LRM is a discretionary phase in the product lifecycle process.

End of Support
End of Support (EOS) is an announcement by SonicWall to indicate that it will no longer provide technical support, firmware updates/upgrades or hardware replacement for the product, and that all remaining unique inventory or materials will become unavailable.  SonicWall may continue to offer security service subscriptions such as Content Filtering and Intrusion Prevention during the End of Support phase, but it will no longer provide technical support for the product or any security service running on it.  Should a technical issue arise on one of the subscription services that is offered during the End of Support phase, customers may be required to transition to an upgrade product at their own cost.  Certain remaining entitlements on the End of Support appliance may be transitioned to the upgrade appliance upon request.
