Operational Environment

The following environmental components are required to operate a SonicWall firewall:

• Management workstation: Any IT environment management workstation.
• Management Console: Any computer that provides a supported browser to access the administrative interface via HTTPS and a direct serial connection providing administrative CLI access.
• VPN Gateway: VPN connections via IPSec.
• WAN/internet: External IP interface.
• LAN/Internal: Internal IP interface.

The following are optional:

• Remote Logging: Audit Server supporting syslog protocol is optional. The server can be optionally set up with an IPsec peer supporting IKEv2 and ESP, but IPsec is not required.
• VPN Gateway: A VPN gateway is optional. The TZ Series firewall itself can be configured to operate as a VPN gateway or head-end.
