Configuring External Storage

Make sure that the external disk space is added in the VM for the controller and reporting agent to store the reporting and analytics data.

Without adding external data in a VM and encrypting the added space in console, you cannot enable Reporting for controller and reporting agent.

In the Storage screen, you can encrypt and mount the external disk space added in a VM.

Once the external disk space is added in the VM, you need to encrypt and mount the disk data to use it for controller and reporting agent.

To encrypt and mount the disk space

  1. Select the Add Storage and click Yes.

  2. Enter the encryption key you want to use for the disk.

  3. Re-enter the same encryption key.

    • You need to remember this encryption key to mount the disk and access the disk data.
    • Disk encryption takes sometime to reflect in the console.
    • On successful disk encryption, Additional storage action will change to Mount Storage.

    Now the storage is added to the On-Premises device.

  4. Press Esc to close the encryption success message.

  5. Reboot the NSM to complete the disk mount process.

  6. Enter the encryption key defined while adding disk storage.

    Rebooting the NSM will take sometime.

On successful rebooting:

  • Additional storage action will change to Ready for use.
  • System Info Status shows as Starting Services. You can check status of the each service in the Logs.
  • On sucessful starting of the services, Status will change to Web UI is accessible. During starting of the services, web UI is not be accessible until the status changed to Web UI is now accessible.
  • NSM stops processing reporting and analytics data is free disk space in external disk goes below 10 GB.
