The X1 interface typically needs egress/ingress access to the public Internet. To allow access, the X1 interface must be configured with an Elastic IP (EIP). Otherwise, traffic from the X1 interface is directed to a NAT Instance.
To assign an EIP to the NSv X1 interface, you need to use the Elastic Network Interface (ENI).
To locate the ENI
In your browser, navigate to EC2 > Instances.
Select the NSv instance.
In the lower panel, click the Details tab.
Scroll down to the Network interfaces section.
Under Network interfaces, interfaces are listed in device‑index order.
Click eth2 | Device index 2.
This opens the Network interface details panel for eth2.
Locate Network interface ID. This is the X1 ENI.
Click the copy icon next to the ID, or select and copy it manually.
Paste the value into a temporary file, so you can refer to it during the next procedure.
To locate or create the Elastic IP (EIP) and associate it with the X1 interface
In the left navigation pane, click Elastic IPs.
Ensure that an Elastic IP address is already allocated. If no Elastic IP address is allocated, select the Elastic IP and click Allocate Elastic IP address > keep the default settings, and select Allocate.
On the Elastic IP address page, select the free Elastic IP and click Actions > Associate Elastic IP address.
The Associate Elastic IP address dialog box displays.
From the Resource type drop-down menu, select Network interface.
In the Network interface drop-down menu, select the ENI of the X1 interface that you located in the previous procedure.
Click Associate.
