Switch is stuck on Authorizing

Description

For a new SonicWall switch configuration, if it gets stuck on "Authorizing", this article lists the steps to be taken on the firewall to fix this issue.

Cause

Resolution

  • Authorize message while configuring the switchImage
  • Clicking on authorize gives us the below option to select the firmwareImage
  • After selecting the correct firmware (can be confirmed on MySonicWall),click ok and the switch interface should load up successfully.
  • If the switch is still stuck in "Authorize" state, then please check the error message at the bottom right of the window.
  • Generally this error is related to incorrect config, example: In this case the interface we were trying to use  with the switch  was already configuered as a VLAN (X3).Image
  • Now, we first have to delete these VLANs. Sometimes, while deleting these will give you the error that the VLANs are tagged with the access points. Then, we have to first delink the VLAN ID from the access point and then delete the respective VLANs. Once all the VLANs are deleted, then we can again try to authorize.
  • Also confirm, if the Enable Auto Discovery of SonicWall Switches is checked under the advance option for the concerned interface

  • On MySonicWall, also check if the switch has the option "managed by firewall" checked.
