Notice: End of Support for SonicWall Enforced Client

First Published:12/13/2018 Last Updated:03/26/2020

SonicWall previously announced that the SonicWall Enforced Client offerings (both McAfee and Kaspersky) are End of Life (EOL) and no longer available for purchase starting April 2018. McAfee also previously announced an EOL for the endpoint technology that was used; with Kaspersky it was a strategic decision to no longer sell the product due to government concerns raised by the product around data privacy.

SonicWall now announces the End of Support dates for SonicWall Enforced Client as follows:

  • January 11th 2019 – Limited Support for SonicWall Enforced Client (McAfee and Kaspersky)
  • January 31st 2020 – End of Support for SonicWall Enforced Client (McAfee and Kaspersky)

What does Limited Support mean for SonicWall Enforced Client?

With Limited Support, customers will no longer receive any updates to the AV engines that came with their purchase of Enforced Client (both McAfee and Kaspersky). This includes patches, bug fixes and new feature updates.  For McAfee users, customers will also no longer be able to access the McAfee Security Center to manage and operate policies; or to review client status, threat events or reports. Additionally, McAfee customers will also no longer receive AV signature updates.

The clients and AV engines will continue to run on the endpoints and features like scanning and notifications will be available – however, protection will be stunted as no new signatures will be available for new variants of malware.

SonicWall will only troubleshoot and attempt to resolve any issues with regards to the enforcement of the client and this will be done on a best-effort basis.

What does End of Support mean for SonicWall Enforced Client?

With End of Support, in addition to the limitations with Limited Support above, clients will no longer be able to access the Endpoint Policy and Reporting Server (EPRS) to manage Kaspersky clients as well. Furthermore, SonicWall will not provide any support for enforcement of the clients or the AV engines themselves.

What products have been affected by these announcements?

The following products are including in these End of Life and End of Support announcements:

  • SonicWall Enforced Client Anti-Virus & Anti-Spyware – MacAfee
  • SonicWall Enforced Client Anti-Virus & Anti-Spyware – Kaspersky
  • SonicWall Server Anti-Virus/Enforced Client Anti-Virus & Anti-Spyware Suite – MacAfee

And all variants of these products including Security as a Service (SECaaS) offerings.
