TOTP Setup

For TOTP to work, TOTP needs to be configured on the firewall, and the user needs to enroll in an authenticator application.

Prerequisites

TOTP only works when it is enabled in the firewall.

To configure the firewall

1. On the firewall, navigate to Device > Users > Local Users & Groups.
2. Select a user and edit the record, or if adding a new user, click +Add User.
3. For a new user fill in the fields.

4. Update the field for One-time password method and select TOTP.

   

5. Click Save.

User Enrollment

Before logging in for the first time, a GVC user needs to enroll with a TOTP application such as Microsoft Authenticator or Google Authenticator. The following is a general procedure for user enrollment that you can customize for your users.

1. Install an authentication application on your phone.
2. Navigates to the portal specifed by the adminstrator.
3. Enter the username and password. The first login binds the authenticator application to the account.
4. Scan the QR code with your authenticator application.
5. Enter the six-digit TOTP code to complete your enrollment.

The initial TOTP request takes place after you use your username and password to authenticate for the first time.
