When a user attempts to access WorkPlace through their browser, the following error message appears: "You do not have sufficient permission to access this resource. To return to the previous page, close this instance of the browser."
This error is the default message displayed when a user is denied access to a web resource. It occurs when an Access Control rule in the Appliance Management Console (AMC) does not permit the user access to the WorkPlace resource. The SMA1000 ships with a default rule that allows all users access to WorkPlace. This rule may have been modified or removed in the following scenarios:
1. An administrator manually deleted or changed the default WorkPlace access rule.
2. A configuration import or CMS push replaced the running configuration without the default rule.
3. Custom Access Control rules with a higher priority are denying access before the Permit rule is evaluated.
Verify and restore the Access Control rule for the WorkPlace resource in AMC:
Step 1: Log in to the Appliance Management Console (AMC).
Step 2: Navigate to Security Administration > Access Control.
Step 3: Look for an existing rule that references the WorkPlace resource. If a Permit rule exists, verify it applies to the correct user or group and that no higher-priority Deny rule overrides it.
Step 4: If no Permit rule exists, click the + (Add) button to create a new rule. Set the Action to Permit, set the To field to the WorkPlace resource, and set the From field to the appropriate user or group (e.g., ALL USERS).
Step 5: Click Save to add or update the rule.
Step 6: Click Pending Changes in the upper-right corner and apply the configuration.
Important: Access Control rules are evaluated top-to-bottom on a first-match-wins basis. Ensure the Permit rule for WorkPlace is positioned above any broader Deny rules that could override it.
