Trouble shooting a scenario where junk emails were not received by the specific users

Description

Trouble shooting a scenario where junk emails were not received by the specific users

Resolution

SCENARIO / SYMPTOM

•    Anti-Spam has been configured
•    The Junk Summary emails have been configured to be sent to the users every hour
•    Only one user is unable to receive the junk summary email
•    There is no junk email for that specific user under Junk box view
•    Tried sending a spam email from a Gmail account with the subject as “MLFJUNKN” but to no avail

RESOLUTION/WORKAROUND

•    Change the logging level to ‘Level 2’ under AntiSpam>Advanced page and try resending a Spam email
•    Checked the ‘MlfAsgMTP’ logs and found the emails are getting deleted
•    The configuration was set as ‘Permanently delete’ definite Spam emails, hence they were getting deleted before reaching the user
•    After configuring Anti-spam settings to store ‘Definite Spam’ in Junk store, the emails were reaching the user
•    Another finding is that the likely spam emails are not even coming to that user. Hence, the likely spam emails were not visible

REASON

•    This issue occurs when the configuration is set as ‘Permanently delete’ definite Spam emails
