CLI: How many Address Object records can be updated on a per-commit basis?

Description

SonicWall has the following recommendations for updating records via the CLI:

  • It is preferred to access the CLI using the Console port. If SSH must be used, consider increasing the session timeout.
  • Update up to 150 records at a time on a per-commit basis.
  • We recommend waiting up to 5 minutes between each batch of updates. The amount of time needed to process and commit the changes can vary based on a number of factors, such as High Availability, the number of objects updated, nesting of the objects that are updated, and utilization of the appliance at the time the changes are made.
  • Update IPv4 and IPv6 records separately.
  • Avoid updating a large number of deeply nested Address Objects at one time.
  • As a best practice, we recommend doing large Address Objects updates during off-hours as large updates can have an impact on CPU (Core 0) utilization.
