Avanan: Office 365 - Manually Removing Avanan

Description

Step 1. Removing the Admin User

  • This might not be necessary depending on when Avanan was integrated with the 365 environment. Avanan no longer creates an admin user as of Early/Mid 2022.
  • If you do not see an Avanan user, move on to step 2.
  1. Go to “Active users” in admin console:

  1. delete admin user:

Step 2. Rules

  1. Go to “Admin Center” → Exchange.
  2. Mail flow → rules
  3. You should delete 3 rules (in case you have created inline rule):
    1. Avanan - Protect
    2. Avanan - Junk Filter
    3. Avanan - Whitelist

Step 3. Connectors

  1. In “mail flow” → connectors, you should delete 3 connectors (or 2 if you didn't create an inline rule):
    1. Avanan Inbound.
    2. Avanan Outbound (is created when you create inline rule).
    3. Avanan Journaling Outbound.

Step 4. Journal rule

  1. Go to “Compliance management” → Journal rule:

  1. Delete journal report email:

  1. Delete Avanan - Monitor rule:

Step 5. Connection filter

  1. Go to protection → Connection filter

  1. Open “Default” rule, and from connection filtering delete the IP address.
