Description
When attempting to navigate to a SonicWall, the Firefox browser displays the following error.
Secure Connection Failed
An error occurred during a connection to (ip address). Cannot communicate securely with peer: no common encryption algorithm(s). (Error Code: ssl_error_no_cypher_overlap)".
Resolution
- Login temporarily to the device using a different browser, such as Chrome or IE, then navigate to https:///diag.html. Click the "Internal Settings" button that is presented.
- Check to see if the checkbox "Enable RC4-Only Cipher Suite Support" is enabled. If so, disable it. (Firefox no longer supports use of the RC4 cipher).
NOTE: Although RC4 previously provided mitigation against the BEAST attack vulnerability, modern browsers now have their own mitigations against this attack. RC4 has now been deemed insecure for other issues, which lead to its deprecation in the Firefox browser by default.
