Important

  • Standard SonicWave access points include Wireless Network Manager and support services. Additional advanced wireless cloud and security subscription services, including Capture ATP, Content Filtering Service, Cloud Gateway Anti-Virus, and Geo-IP and Botnet Security Services are available for purchase separately at MySonicWall. After logging in, navigate to Product Management > My Products.

The following compatibility and installation notes apply to this release of Wireless Network Manager.

Browser Requirements

For Wireless Network Manager use the latest browser with HTML5 support.

Supported SonicWave Access Points

Wireless Network Manager 4.7.0 is supported for the following SonicWall SonicWave wireless access points:

The SonicWave access points require the following minimum SonicWave firmware build levels:

  • For SonicWave 200 Series, the minimum build level is 9.2.5.2-3.
  • For SonicWave 400 Series, the minimum build level is 9.1.5.2-3.
  • For SonicWave 600 Series, the minimum build level is 9.6.5.2-3.

Wireless Network Manager 4.7.0 is supported for the following SonicWall Switches:

Switch management support requires SonicWall Switch firmware versions 1.3.2 for Switch 12 and Switch 14.

What's New

This is a feature release with new features, and includes bug fixes for the previously reported issues.

  • The New banner message will be displayed stating Access Points and Switches can be managed from SonicWall Unified Management,when you log into Wireless Network Manager.

  • The new SSID policy will have IEEE802.11R, IEEE802.11K and Agile Multiband enabled by default.

  • The Network Topology now displays devices connected to a Switch and also the Clients connected to a Switch.

  • While configuring an Access Point, under General tab a new section SSID Group is added which can be used to override the SSID settings of the Access Point.

  • The Link Aggregation configuration is now supported in both Classic mode and Port Policy mode.

  • The user now has the ability to select Access Point Data or Switch Data while creating Report task.

  • In Alerts, under the Security Service type "App Control", "CFS" and "GeoIP" are removed and they are added under Logs.

  • UI/UX improvements in Dashboard:

    • On click of the infographics "Total Switch", "Total Access Point" and "Total Client" in the top of the page, will navigate the user to their respective device page.

    • Hovering over the pie chart in Access Point tab displays the value of the data in higher unit of measurement.

    • The SSIDs bar lists the top SSIDs by traffic, along with the respective Radio Band (2.4G or 5G).

  • The tab Switch Clients under Network > Devices is renamed as Switch Mac Address Table.

  • Now you can set the password complexity for Access Points in Settings > General page.

    • There is a toggle to enforce password complexity and once enabled it would allow you to set various parameters for the password like minimum length, minimum number of upper case or lower case or symbolic characters.

  • Whenever there is a change made to the switch , a warning is displayed as tool tip to user on the Network > Devices > Switch page that there is local change detected and making any change from Wireless Network Manager will override the local changes.
