Release Notes

These Release Notes provide information about the SonicWall SonicOS 8 release.

SonicOS 8.0.x Versions SonicOS 8.1.x Version SonicOS 8.2.x Version
Release Description: Version 8.0.4 provides support for the new TZ280P, TZ280W and NSa 6800 Release Description: Version 8.1.0 is a feature release built on top of SonicOS 8.0.0, 8.0.1, 8.0.2 and 8.0.3 Release Description: Version 8.2.1 is a feature release built on top of SonicOS 8.0.0, 8.0.1, 8.0.2, 8.0.3, 8.0.4, 8.1.0, and 8.2.0
Upgrade path: Anyone buying a TZ280P or TZ280W or NSa 6800 will start with SonicOS 8.0.4. Anyone operating on previous versions of 8.0.x can upgrade to 8.0.4 to take advantage of bug fixes included.

Upgrade path: Anyone operating on SonicOS 8.0.0, 8.0.1, 8.0.2 and 8.0.3 should upgrade to SonicOS 8.1.0 to take advantage of the new features.

Firewalls running SonicOS 8.1.0 must not be downgraded to SonicOS 8.0.4. Downgrading may result in configuration incompatibilities, loss of features introduced in later releases, and potential system instability.

Upgrade path: Anyone operating on SonicOS 8.0.0, 8.0.1, 8.0.2, 8.0.3, 8.0.4, 8.1.0, and 8.2.0 should upgrade to SonicOS 8.2.1 to take advantage of the new features.

Downgrading from 8.2.1 to any prior firmware version is not supported. Downgrading could result in the deletion of all LDAP users and a complete reset of all MFA settings.
If a downgrade is required, all LDAP users and MFA configurations must be manually reconfigured afterward. A full configuration backup is strongly recommended before upgrading.
