Upgrade Guide for NSv Series

Welcome to the SonicOS 8 Upgrade Guide for NSv Series. This guide is applicable for the following SonicWall Virtual Firewall Models.

  • NSv Series: NSv XS

This Upgrade Guide provides information about upgrading your NSv Series Series firewall from previous versions of SonicOS 6.5 to the latest version of SonicOS 8.

The initial deployment of SonicOS 8 must be a fresh install. Upgrading to SonicOS 8 from SonicOS 6.5.5.v via the SWI file is not supported.

If you are upgrading SonicOS from a SonicOS 6 (versions 6.5 or older) to a SonicOS 8 firewall via an online migration tool is not supported.

To upgrading SonicOS from a SonicOS 6 (versions 6.5 or older) to a SonicOS 8 firewall, you must use export configuration setting file to migrate your settings to SonicOS 8.
