Configuring WAN Interfaces with Same Subnet Setup

Configuring Wired WAN Interface (W0)

To configure wired WAN interface (X1):

  1. Navigate to NETWORK | System > Interfaces.
  2. Click the Edit icon in the Configure column for the interface you want to configure.

    The Edit Interface dialog displays.

  3. From the Zone, select WAN.
  4. From the Mode/IP Assignment, select DHCP.
  5. Click OK.
Configuring Wireless WAN Interface (W0)

To configure W0 as Station and WAN mode:

  1. Navigate to Device | Internal Wireless > Settings.
  2. Under Wireless Radio Mode, set the Radio Role as Wireless Station.
  3. Enable Use Wireless Interface as WAN.
  4. Under Wireless Settings, configure the SSID and Radio Mode so they match the configuration of the wireless access point (AP) you intend to connect.
  5. On the Security page, set the Authentication Type and Passphrase to match the target AP’s wireless security settings.

  6. On the Status page, confirm that the Link Status displays Connected, indicating a successful connection.

  7. Navigate to NETWORK | System > Interfaces.
  8. Click the Edit icon in the Configure column for the interface you want to configure.

    The Edit Interface dialog displays.

  9. From the Zone, select WAN.
  10. From the Mode/IP Assignment, select DHCP.
  11. Click OK.
  12. Go to Failover & LB and Enable Failover & LB. For more information, see Failover & LB.
  13. Configure X1 as primary WAN and W0 as secondary WAN.

    The primary WAN must have a lower metric value.

    • X1 default metric is 10
    • W0 default metric is 20
