Secure Mobile Access 12.4 Administration Guide

Configuring ICMP

Enabling ICMP allows you to use the ping command to test network connectivity to the appliance from another computer on the same subnet. This will not enable broadcast pings.

Enabling ICMP makes it possible to ping the appliance from both network interfaces (external and internal). Unless you suppress ICMP Echo Request traffic using a firewall or other network device, it will be possible to discover the appliance from the Internet.

From 12.4.2 onwards in AMC/CMC you can select multiple interface option for ICMP for internal only or external only or both interfaces.

To enable ICMP

  1. In the AMC, navigate to System Configuration > Network Settings.

  2. In the Basic section, click the Edit link.

The Basic Network Settings page displays.

  3. In the ICMP section, select the Enable ICMP pings check box.

  4. In Allow on these interface(s), select any of the following:

    • Internal only

    • External only

    • Both Interfaces

  5. Click Save.
