About NetExtender Windows

NetExtender Windows is a transparent software application for Windows users that enables remote users to securely connect to the remote network accessed through a SonicWall appliance. With NetExtender Windows, remote users can securely run any application on the remote network. Users can upload and download files, mount network drives, and access resources as if they were on the local network.

This release supports all the features and contains all the issues resolved in previous NetExtender Windows releases. For more information, see the last release notes on MySonicWall at https://mysonicwall.com.

Compatibility and Installation Notes

• Most popular browsers are supported, but prefers Google Chrome for the real-time graphics display on the Dashboard.
• A MySonicWall account is required.

The following is a list of NetExtender Windows client versions that are available in this release.

SonicWall appliances receive NetExtender Windows connections from remote clients. The following appliances are supported:

• SonicWall firewalls running SonicOS 8 firmware versions, including the following platforms:
  • TZ80, TZ280, TZ280P, TZ280W, TZ380, TZ380W, TZ480, TZ580, TZ680, and NSa2800, NSa3800, NSa4800, NSa5800, NSa6800 running SonicOS 8
• SonicWall firewalls running SonicOS 7 firmware versions, including the following platforms:
  • TZ270, TZ270W, TZ370, TZ370W, TZ470, and TZ470W running SonicOS 7
  • TZ570, TZ570W, TZZ570P, and TZ670 running SonicOS 7
  • NSa2700, NSa3700, NSa4700, NSa5700, and NSa6700 running SonicOS 7
  • NSv270, NSv470, and NSv870 running SonicOS 7

Supported Firewall Firmware Version

NetExtender Windows 10.2.x versions are the only fully supported firewall versions at this time. While NetExtender Windows 10.3.x versions are available; they currently have limited support and may not be suitable for all supported firewall versions.

SonicWall recommends using the latest firmware GEN 7 and GEN 8 for optimal performance.

What's New

This release provides the latest NetExtender Windows version, fixes for previously reported issues and the new features as follows:

• Support Notification Center on Windows.
• Idle timeout based on mouse and keyboard activities.
• Option to share the connection profile with all the Windows users in the system.
• Option to choose a browser for SAML login.
• Support for QR code binding of TOTP on the command-line client.
