About NetExtender Linux

NetExtender Linux is a transparent software application for Linux users that enables remote users to securely connect to the remote network accessed through a SonicWall appliance. With NetExtender Linux, remote users can securely run any application on the remote network. Users can upload and download files, mount network drives, and access resources as if they were on the local network.

This release supports all the features and contains all the issues resolved in previous NetExtender Linux releases. For more information, see the last release notes on MySonicWall at https://mysonicwall.com.

Compatibility and Installation Notes

  • Most popular browsers are supported, but prefers Google Chrome for the real-time graphics display on the Dashboard.
  • A MySonicWall account is required.

Supported Client Platforms

NetExtender Linux 10.3.1 supports computers running the following Linux versions:

  • Fedora core 30 and higher.

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8.4 and higher.

  • Ubuntu 18.04 and higher.

  • Debian 10.3 and higher.

  • CentOS 9.0 and higher.

Always on VPN and SND feature is not available with NetExtender Linux.

Supported SonicWall Appliances

SonicWall appliances receive NetExtender Linux connections from remote clients. The following appliances are supported:

  • SonicWall firewalls running SonicOS 8 firmware versions, including the following platforms:
    • TZ80, TZ280, TZ380, TZ380W, TZ480, TZ580, TZ680, and NSa2800 NSa3800 NSa4800 NSa5800 running SonicOS 8
  • SonicWall firewalls running SonicOS 7 firmware versions, including the following platforms:
    • TZ270, TZ270W, TZ370, TZ370W, TZ470, and TZ470W running SonicOS 7
    • TZ570, TZ570W, TZZ570P, and TZ670 running SonicOS 7
    • NSa2700, NSa3700, NSa4700, NSa5700, and NSa6700 running SonicOS 7
    • NSv270, NSv470, and NSv870 running SonicOS 7
    • NSsp10700, NSsp11700, NSsp13700, and NSsp15700 running SonicOS 7
  • SonicWall firewalls running SonicOS 6.5.4.7 firmware version, including the TZ, NSa, SOHO, and SuperMassive (SM) series platforms:
    • TZ300, TZ300W, TZ300P, TZ350, TZ350W, TZ400, TZ400W, TZ500, TZ500W, TZ600, TZ600P

Supported Firewall Firmware Version

NetExtender Linux 10.2.x versions are the only full supported firewall versions at this time. While NetExtender Linux 10.3.x versions are available, they currently have limited support and may not be suitable for all supported firewall versions.

  • GEN 6/6.5 - 6.5.4.13-105n / 6.5.4.15-117n
  • GEN 7 - 7.0.1-5161 / 7.1.1-7058 / 7.1.2-7019 / 7.1.3-7015
  • GEN 8 - 8.0.0-8035 / 8.0.1-8017

SonicWall recommends using the latest GEN 7 and GEN 8 firmware for optimal performance.

Supported Firmware SMA Versions

SonicWall recommends using the latest NetExtender Linux with the latest SMA 100 Series firmware for optimal performance.

What's New

This release provides the latest NetExtender Linux version with the latest version of theSMA 100 Series, fixes for previously reported issues and the new feature as follows:

  • Built-in diagnostic tools.

Resolved Issues
