Why Is My Cloud GMS Basic License Expired?

Description

This article explains why the free cloud GMS license would show as expired in the mysonicwall.com account.

Resolution

Initially, the 6th Gen Sonicwall device models such as TZ300,400,500 or NSa 2600,2650,4600,4650 used to come with GMS services. The cloud GMS basic management license used to be offered free of charge for serial numbers with an active CGSS or AGSS subscription previously.

But now all the GMS services on our 6th generation models have been upgraded to CSC (Capture security center) management services, which are part of the NSM (Network Security Manager) service bundle as shown below.

So, to use the CSC Management service for the 6th or 6.5th generation models you need to purchase the service key.

There are 2 types of NSM services as you can see in the above image. Please check the difference between the 2 below: -

1: NSM Essential: Management with 7-day SFR(SonicWall Flow Report) based reporting. Customers with NSM Essential licenses will not get full reporting and Analytics. It has scheduled Management and CTA reports but NO Flow-based report.

2: NSM Advanced: Management with 7-day SFR-based reporting + full 365 days of reporting and 30 days of analytics. By default, Gen 7 will have options only for NSM Essential or NSM Advanced licenses. While Customers with Gen 6 and Gen 6.5 devices with CSC License will be migrated to License based remaining active subscription as follows under the secure upgrade transfer only:

NOTE: CSC-MA Management Lite license will be EOL. By default, these customers will not be moved over to NSM. If they purchase the license for CSC Management and/or Reporting, they will move to NSM Essential or NSM Advanced based on the license as described in the above table.

NSM Essential> Management + 7-day Reporting.

NSM Advanced > Management with full 365 days of reporting and 30 days of analytics.
