Description
This article describes the process to request ownership or transfer of the device to your account when it is already registered to another account.
Resolution
If you know the current registered owner of the device you want to transfer to yourself/your MySonicWall account, please work with them to have the device transferred to your account. Normally, the registered owner will initiate the transfer to the new account.

If you do not know the name of the currently registered owner, you can attempt to transfer the device through our self-service option in MySonicWall.
- Log into your mysonicwall.com account.
- Under My workspace, click on Register Products
- Choose the Tenant enter the Serial Number and Authentication Code
- As the unit is registered to a different account, a pop-up notifying that the product is already registered will show up. Click on Initiate Transfer
- This will send an automated email with a release request to the registered/previous owner of the firewall with options to either approve or deny the transfer of the firewall.
- If the Registered/previous owner
a) Approves the transfer: The firewall will be automatically moved to your mysonicwall.com account. You will be notified via email about the transfer.
b) Denies the transfer: The firewall will not be transferred to your account. You will be notified via an automated email about the denial of transfer.
c) Does not Respond: If there is no response from the registered owner, You will receive an email from SonicWall notifying the same.
NOTE 1: SonicWall will make two (2) attempts to contact the registered owner to consent to a transfer. If those attempts are unsuccessful, to protect the security and privacy of our customers and their networks, you will have to work with the person or entity from whom you acquired the device.
NOTE 2: The Registered/previous owner has to approve the transfer within 72 hours. If it is not approved, a new request should be sent as after 72 hours if the registered owner attempts to approve the transfer, it will show error.
CAUTION:Customer Service will not be able to transfer a device under any of the following conditions:
• If the device is associated with another device or service in MySonicWall.com
• If the current registered owner does not give written permission to transfer
• The current registered owner does not respond to the 2 attempts mentioned above.

End of Support (EOS): It is an announcement to indicate that we will no longer provide technical support, firmware updates/upgrades or hardware replacement for the product, and that all remaining unique inventory or materials will become unavailable. We may continue to offer security service subscriptions during the End of Support phase, but we will no longer provide technical support for the product or any security service running on it. Discontinued versions which are retired or discontinued. No new patches or fixes will be created for this release. Not available for download from Support Portal. Support will be provided to assist with upgrading to a supported version. Support is not obligated to provide assistance on this version of the product
