Migration Tool does't support target firmware of SonicOS 7.1.1

Description

The article explains how to migrate settings from a GEN6 SonicWall to a GEN7 SonicWall without having the option of selecting 7.1.1-7047 or above in the target firmware list of the Migration Tool.

If you have purchased new Gen7 device or are planning to migrate from your existing firewall to SonicWALL Gen7 firewall, the migration tool is available to assist with settings conversion.  (please find the supported source firewalls, and more details for migration process here How to Create Gen 7 Settings File by Using the Online Migration Tool

Cause

NOTE: The Migration tool does not offer the 7.1.1-7047 or above firmware as a target firmware to migrate to. However, the converted settings using the target firmware as 7.0.1-5145 will be successfully imported.  The steps below provide a path of importing the settings file.

Resolution

  1. Select  7.0.1-5145 as the target firmware and download the migrated file.
  2. Import this settings file onto the GEN7 firewall operating with the 7.0.1-5145 firmware.

  3. If you are already operating on the 7.1.1-7047 or above firmware, you can import the same settings file.
