How to upgrade firmware on Email Security for Split Mode Configuration.
Question: How to update your SonicWall Email Security hardware or Virtual Appliance solution in a Split Mode configuration.
NOTE: These procedures stop the background services from running or starting Tomcat only from the Control Center within a Split Mode configuration.
To update the SonicWall Email Security solution:
Install Putty, a telnet client downloadable from the internet.
Log into the CLI using Putty.
Enter the IP address of Email Security device and Port number as 22.
Login as snwlcli.
Enter the Admin/Password credentials used for when you log in to the WebUI.
On the CLI prompt type the following commands:
SNWLCLI>stop appservices It will take few minutes to stop services and return to the prompt. SNWLCLI>start tomcat End users will have no interruption in accessing their Junkbox while there is no other background Services running.
NOTE: Always upgrade firmware on the remote Analysers first and then the Control Center. If you have a series of upgrades to be done , for example , you want to upgrade ftom 8.3.2 to 9.0.3 to 9.0.6 and then to 9.1.3, you will have to upgrade your Remote Analyser from 8.3.2 to 9.0.3 , then CC from 8.3.2 to 9.0.3. Once the batch of 9.0.3 is done , go to the next batch 9.0.6. The RA and CC must be done in batches of the same firmware.
