How to Upgrade firmware of firewall using NSM (Network Security Manager)

Description

This article explains how we can upgrade the firmware on the firewall using NSM (Network Security Manager) . There will be a commit created for the Firmware upgrade task and the upgrade process can be monitored from the Commit Section in NSM.

Resolution

  • It is recommended to create a System Backup and and Export Settings before going for the firmware upgrade. You can do this from Firewall View of the device from NSM.  Image
  • For Exporting Settings, from the same screen, Select the Import/Export Configuration option, choose Export Configuration and save the .EXP File to a safe location.Image

Upgrading firmware on the firewall via NSM: 

  • Login to NSM | Manager view |Inventory |Action Button besides the firewall you want to upgrade the firmware for                                           Image
  • Click on Upgrade Firmware and then select the firmware version you want to Update to to from the Software select dialog.                                                                           Image
  • To upgrade the Firewall Instantly, Click Now on Schedule Upgrade Section and then Click on OK to Upgrade.

  • You can also Schedule your firmware upgrade for later, To do that, Click On the later option and select the desired date and time.                                                                             Image
  • To verify the status of the upgrade, Navigate to Manager View |Config Management | Commits and expand to see the Operation Result.                                                                        Image
