How to schedule firewall backups on NSM?

Description

This article describes how to archive EXP and TSR files from firewalls that are managed by your NSM.

The settings files (EXP) can be used for recovery and the Technical-Support-Reports (TSR) can be used for troubleshooting.

Resolution

Log in to your NSM and navigate to the Firewalls menu

  1. Under Backup
  2. Navigate to Schedule
  3. Click  Add

  4. Enter a name for your schedule
  5. Chose between TSR or EXP files to be archived
  6. Chose between having this job to be scheduled or on-demand
  7. If scheduled, chose between weekly or monthly
  8. If scheduled, at what time of the day to you want to run this job
  9. You can edit your scheduled day. This is the day of the week or month on which the scheduled job will run. By default its Sunday for weekly or the 7th for monthly jobs
  10. Click on "Next"

  11. Select all firewalls that you want to include in this schedule
  12. Click Next

  13. You can now review your configuration and click on "Save" if you are happy with it or click on "Previous" to make changesImage

  14. Your schedule has been saved
  15. You can click on the drop-down arrow to display details for this scheduled job
  16. You can edit, delete, or run this job from the menu on the right if it was scheduled for on-demand or even if it was scheduled at any time
  17. You can view, download, or delete your archived TSR files by clicking on the "Archived TSR" tab
  18. You can view, download, or delete your archived EXP files by clicking on the "Archived EXP" tabImage
