Deciding between Connect Tunnel Client and Mobile Connect when using Windows PC and MacOS computers

SonicWall recommends that SMA 1000 customers use the Connect Tunnel client for Windows and MacOS PC's instead of the Mobile Connect client. The Connect Tunnel client employs all the features of Advanced End-Point Control (EPC). Mobile Connect is better suited for use on mobile devices (like iOS and Android devices). 

Please keep the following in mind when considering Connect Tunnel client or Mobile Connect. Mobile Connect supports the following on Windows (whereas Connect Tunnel does not):

• Built-in Windows VPN capabilities such as VPN triggers
• Windows S mode, where only Store apps are supported
• App & VPN profile provisioning via MDM, e.g., Microsoft Intune
• Windows RT 8.1 - under extended support by Microsoft until Jan 2023)
• Windows 10 Mobile  - supported by Microsoft until Dec 2019
