Bandwidth usage and tracking on the Firewall
Description
The Real-Time Monitor provides administrators an inclusive, multi-functional display with information about applications, bandwidth usage, multi-core monitoring, and memory usage. The Real-Time Monitor comprises of a toolbar and four real-time data flows which consist of Applications, Ingress and Egress Bandwidth, Multi-Core Monitor, and Memory Usage. But it will not collect data to any database.
But the real-time application monitoring features rely on the flow collection mechanism in order to collect and display data. Before you can view the “applications” chart in the Real-Time Monitor, AppFlow Monitor, or AppFlow Reports, you must first enable and configure the flow collection feature.

Resolution for SonicOS 7.X
This release includes significant user interface changes and many new features that are different from the SonicOS 6.5 and earlier firmware. The below resolution is for customers using SonicOS 7.X firmware.
- To track bandwidth usage in your network with reference to the interface of the firewall. Navigate to Monitor | Real-time monitor | System Monitor | Interface usage
- Here you can select the interface that you wish to monitor.
- To track Application bandwidth in your network using protocols such as General HTTPS MGMT, General HTTPS, General DNS, service ECHO, General SNMP Trap, General HTTP.
- Navigate to Monitor | Real-time monitor | System Monitor | Application bandwidth

- To track based on users, URLs, and applications, you need to enable app control and app flow reporting in the firewall. Follow the below article to do so.
