Auto-Detection Feature/Suspend Content Filter Client service when behind the firewall

    Description

    Auto-Detection is the feature where we can enable/disable the Client Content Filter service when the machine is behind the firewall. In other words, we can decide if we want to use Content Filter Client, or the Firewalls Content filter service for these machines.

    Resolution

    For Auto- Detection to work, check the following settings on the firewall:

    1. Under Network->Zones, make sure Client CF service , and Content Filtering services are enabled.

    2. Under Security Services-> Client CF Enforcement, include the IP addresses of the machines in the Enforcement Range (depends on the version of CF Client used)

    3. Log into EPRS, and under Content Filter-> Settings, check the option to suspend the service when behind firewall with Active Gateway CFS.

    If the configuration has been done correctly, when the Client is behind the Firewall, the log messages will look like this:

    These messages indicate that the Client CF has detected a UTM device.

    Important: 6.1 Firmware does not support Auto-Detection Feature. The GUI does not contain options to enable/disable/ configure Auto-detection for Content Filter Client. Please contact Technical Support to get the hotfix for this firmware.
