SECaaS to Service Provider Plan (SPP) FAQ

Description

Effective Date: Starting August 1, 2025
Full Transition Deadline: August 2026

  • What is changing?
SonicWall is transitioning all Security-as-a-Service (SECaaS) partners to the Service Provider Plan (SPP). This change simplifies service delivery, improves asset ownership clarity, and aligns with our latest product offerings.
  • Why is SonicWall making this change?
    Unified Experience:
One streamlined program for all service providers
Partner Empowerment: You own the assets and manage your services
Future-Ready: SonicWall Service Provider Plan supports the latest SonicWall products and aligns with SonicWall’s roadmap
Operational Simplicity: Standardized SKUs and billing processes

  • If the Partner or distributor cancels a device associated with SECaaS and is ready to be sent back, can they buy and apply the conversion SKU for the device to be reused?
Yes, the conversion SKU can be used if the device has already been terminated/cancelled and is “due to be sent back,” but it has not been sent back yet. However, we recommend that the Partner get confirmation from the Distributor that they would like to retain the device and purchase the conversion SKU.
  • What happens to Gen 6 products?
SPP does not support Gen 6 products. These should be:
    • Upgraded to Gen 7 hardware, or

    • Transitioned to an annual licensing model

  • How do I transition to SPP?
    • Purchase and apply the appropriate Conversion SKU for your Gen 7 firewall.

    •

Once converted, you will own and manage the asset under SPP

      ·

    • Submit a request to cancel SECaaS billing (applying the key does not automatically stop billing)

      ·

    • Submit a cancellation request to your Distributor to stop SECaaS billing. (If Applicable).

    •

Enroll in the Service Provider Plan via the SecureFirst Partner Portal

  • What does the “Conversion” SKU do to the firewall it applies to?
Once the “Conversion” SKU is applied to a firewall, the expiry date is set to “1 day later”. The Partner should be prepared to use a license key or a monthly license, as they have deactivated the key.
  • Can we activate these SKUs on SECaaS devices that have previously been cancelled/deleted?
No. Conversion SKUs only work on active Gen 7 firewalls currently licensed under SECaaS.
  • Can I apply for an annual license once I apply for the “Conversion” SKU?
Yes. Once the Conversion SKU is applied, you can license the firewall with either a monthly or annual term.
Note: If the firewall is part of a stateful HA cluster, you must purchase:
    • A separate term license for the secondary unit
    • The Monthly SKU for all required subscriptions
  • What is the timeline?
    August 1, 2025 –
External announcement and availability of Conversion SKUs
August 2026 – All partners must complete the transition to SPP
  • Who can I contact for help?
Please contact your SonicWall Channel Account Manager or Partner Support contact.
