How to convert my NSv Gen7 free trial license to a production NSv Gen7 license?

This KB article demonstrates how you can convert your Trial NSv license to Production NSv license on the same instance

Resolution

Resolution for SonicOS 7.X

This release includes significant user interface changes and many new features that are different from the SonicOS 6.5 and earlier firmware. The below resolution is for customers using SonicOS 7.X firmware.

  1. Before beginning the process, please ensure you collect your settings backup. Navigate to Device> Settings|Firmware and Settings|Import/Export Configuration and click on Export Configuration.
  2. Deregister the NSV firewall. Navigate to Device|Settings|Licenses
    NOTE: Doing this will reboot the firewall.

  3. Once the firewall is deregistered and rebooted, Re-register the firewall by navigating to Device|Settings| Licenses using the Production Serial Number, Authentication code and Mysonicwall account. 
    CAUTION: Please select the right Policy Mode, it should be same as what you were running on the Trial serial number.

      NOTE: Doing this will again reboot the firewall 
  4. After rebooting, you will see under Home|Dashboard| System your New Production serial number and Authentication Code, now your firewall is ready to use. Now Navigate to Device|Settings| Licenses; if you do not see licensing info and get error message as below then Reset licenses from hidden diag page.

    NOTE: The diag page can be reached by typing in the LAN IP of the SonicWall in the browser, with a  IP/sonicui/7/m/mgmt/settings/diag at the end.
    EXAMPLE: https://192.168.168.168/sonicui/7/m/mgmt/settings/diag

  1. Then Navigate to Security Services Setting|Reset Licenses & Security Services Info. Click the "Reset Licenses & Security Services info" button and then click "Exit Internal Settings" at the top of the page. The Firewall will be restarted. 
  2. After rebooting, re-register the NSv under Device| Settings|Licenses using the Production Serial number and authentication code. If everything is correct, you should see under Home | Dashboard | System your new Production serial number and correct licensing info under Device|Settings| Licenses.
