Description
This article helps answer frequently asked questions regarding Security as a Service (SECaaS) End of Sale in the United States of America.
What happens on May 1st, 2024? No new contracts (24-month commitments) can be started through the Security as a Service program but existing subscriptions will continue to be renewed.
What happens to my existing contracts and units? Nothing happens to existing SECaaS units, they will continue to be billed monthly by your distributor and renewals on a month to month basis will remain available. You may also choose to return them using the existing process if you are outside of your commitment period.
Why is SECaaS going end of sale? We have launched our Service Provider Program which improves the experience end to end, this includes no commitment, no minimums, no contracts. It also allows you to provision and stop licensing within MySonicWall without requiring any interaction externally and there are 3rd party integrations such as ConnectWise Manage PSA for billing and inventory and API's to build your own.
Will you continue to process renewals? Yes, renewals will continue to be processed for any commitments started before May 1st, 2024.
Can I add on licensing to existing units? Until April 30th, 2024, you can order start net new commitments and subscriptions.
What are my options to get billed monthly for firewalls? Our Service Provider Program offers a no minimums, no contracts or commitment option for SonicWall partners and you own the hardware!
How does the Service Provider Program work? The Service Provider Program offers our virtual and SaaS products as well as well as the firewall security subscriptions, cloud management and SSL VPN user licensing on a monthly basis. The hardware must be owned upfront but can be financed or leased via distribution via their own programs.
Can I get the hardware with no upfront cost in the new Service Provider Program? The Service Provider program offers only the licenses on a monthly basis but the service provider hardware-only SKUs are discounted to lower upfront cost. Distributors have financing and leasing programs which can facilitate no-upfront-cost hardware as well.
What happens when existing SECaaS devices reach end of support? Any devices that reach end of support will cease to be licensed, supported and billing will be stopped. The units must be returned or disposed depending on your distributors requirement. The serial numbers will also be decomissioned.
Will I be able to cancel my contract early to move to the Service Provider Program? If you are in the commitment period, you must remain with SECaaS until it comples. Afterwards, the unit can be returned to move to the Service Provider Program.
Can I move my SECaaS units over to the Service Provider program? Currently title ownership is owned by your distributor or their 3rd party financing company so this is not possible. We are looking into ways to remedy this.
Can I renew my non-SECaaS Firewalls with Service Provider? Yes, you can move any non-SECaaS unit into the Service Provider Program.
Is High Availability and Stateful High availability available in Service Provider? Licenses provisioned on the primary unit will be synced to the High Availability secondary unit. Stateful HA must be purchased upfront with the hardware, it is not available via monthly provisioning.
Can I see my usage in Service Provider? Yes, the Service Provider UI has a License Report showing the usage you had month over month.
Does Service Provider support Gen5/6/6.5 units? Use the Appliance Only Secure Upgrade SKUs to move them to Gen7 and then transition to monthly billing when the services are about to expire. Gen 6/6.5 models are in active retirement mode and are going end of support soon.
Can I remove licensing and put a unit on the shelf in the Service Provider Program? Yes, you can do so and you won't be invoiced until you re-enable licensing.
