During NSv registration, after fresh deployments or upgrades of existing NSv firewalls to SonicOS 8.2.1 or later versions, you are prompted to choose between Classic mode and Policy mode.
The specific use cases where this applies are:
Choosing Classic Mode will cause the device to boot up running SonicOS 8.2.1 or later versions with classic mode features.
Choosing Policy Mode will cause the device to boot up running SonicOS 8.2.1 or later versions with policy mode features.
When upgrading an NSv firewall from SonicOS 8.2.1 to a higher version (Classic mode) using the SWI file, the supported features are on par with an NSv or hardware firewall running SonicOS 8.2.1, except that the following are not supported:
